News: GTA 5 sales surpass 5 million in UK

Rockstar celebrates as open world hit passes 5m milestone.

The milestone comes 20 months after the game first went on sale in September 2013, and just 4 weeks after the release of the PC version. 3 million copies were sold within the game's first month on sale.

While it isn't clear how sales are split across platforms, the vast majority of units are expected to have been sold on last-gen consoles. It also remains unclear how many more units may have been sold digitally.
