The special edition handheld sold out at US retailer GameStop in just 15 minutes.
It had been assumed GAME would be selling the handheld given that it regularly secures exclusive Nintendo products, but the retailer will only be selling the regular new handhelds and the Monster Hunter 4 New 3DS XL.
In a Tweet GAME wrote: "We won't be stocking the MM New 3DS XL, unfortunately. You can purchase directly from the Nintendo Store."
The Zelda handheld proved popular in the US, with retailer GameStop selling out of its allocation in just 15 minutes.
