Many Xbox One fans have been requesting the functionality since the console's launch in 2013, which currently has the option to record video directly through the hardware but not capture screenshots.
PS4 has been able to do both since launch via a dedicated Share button on the DualShock 4 controller.
"Screenshots are coming early this year," Spencer said in a new video. "I know it has been a question for quite a while. We delivered themes [and] I think a natural add-on to themes are screenshots.
