The platform holder updated its original blog post overnight to "apologize for the confusion", having initially assured fans that the discount would be valid on digital pre-orders placed on PlayStation Store.
"I was mistaken," PlayStation Blog's communications manager Sid Shuman said. “Preorders are unfortunately not supported."
Subscriptions to PlayStation Plus, Music Unlimited, rental video content are excluded from the promotion, too, along with transactions "made on PlayStation Store via the PS Vita, PlayStation TV or PSP content".
