News: Unreal Engine 4 is now free to all developers

Epic removes subscription fee from next-gen engine.




Use of the engine previously required a $19 subscription fee per month. But now developers can download the engine at absolutely no up-front cost, under the agreement that they'll pay a 5 per cent royalty fee per product, per quarter on games and applications that earn over $3,000.



All future updates will be released free of charge as well.
